Thematic Workshops
Discover History in a different way and learn while having fun!
Workshops every day!
During the french school holidays (Easter, summer and All Saints’ Day, all zones), themed workshops are offered every day to help children discover Gizeux in a different way.
- From Monday to Friday there is a workshop at 11am (L’Ecole des Mousquetaires) and a workshop at 3pm (see programme below).
- On Saturday and Sunday there is a workshop at 3pm (L’Ecole des Mousquetaires)
Booking is recommended. The workshops are conducted in French only. Duration: 1 hour. Price: €4.50 per child
Monday: Fauna & flora Workshop
Mondays at 3pm, during french school holidays (Easter, summer and All Saints).
Come and discover and listen to the Gizeux forest and its many inhabitants. Find out more about the small animals that live in the forest. Learn to recognise trees by their leaves and understand how the eco-system works, so that you can see the role of humans and their responsibility in respecting the environment.
Tuesday: Storytelling & snacking Workshop
Tuesdays at 3pm, during french school holidays (Easter, summer and All Saints’ Day, all zones).
The Tales and Snacks event at Gizeux Castle is a chance for children to discover the book ‘Marion et la vie qui bat’ by Quebec children’s author Roxane Turcotte. They learn that stories are sometimes based on real events, as ‘Marion et la vie qui bat’ was born of a family memory recounted by Stéphanie de Laffon to the author.
The activity ends with a light snack for the children.
Wednesday & Thursday: Bread oven Workshop
Wednesday and Thursday at 3pm, during french school holidays (Easter, summer and All Saints’ Day, all zones).
Come and discover the world of the Gizeux baker. Built in the 18th century, the bread oven could feed up to a hundred people living in this large house. Now back in use, the bread oven is being brought back to life for a day to help children discover the different stages in bread’s manufacture.
Of course, the workshop will end with a tasting session, during which the children will be invited to share their bread rolls.
Friday: Coat-of-arms workshop
Friday at 3pm, during french school holidays (Easter, summer and All Saints’ Day, all zones).
Children will discover the role of heraldry in feudal society, and its traces in contemporary society, as they learn to decipher the symbolism of colours and objects. They then create their own personal coat of arms, with a symbolic and colourful design, while developing their artistic sensibilities, and take it home with them!
